EPS can be recycled reused. It can be grinded into small particles and refill into foam products, it can be grind into powder and being used as filler in concrete, it can be solved so as to make adhesives, and it can be compacted and re-melt to make PS pellets for the applications of PS profiles and injection moulded parts. As the collection and transportation of EPS scrap has not been so efficient due to its light weight, compaction is needed in order to reduce the size of EPS scrap before transporting it to recycle and reuse facilities.
What is EPS Foam
Polystyrene (PS) and Expanded Polystyrene (EPS, commonly known as plastic foam or Styrofoam) are made from non-renewable petroleum based chemicals. PS is light, hygienic and commonly used to pack food, drinks, fragile and deformable goods. Usually, EPS products are 98% air and only 2% PS.
